Kota Kinabalu: Youth empowerment initiatives were among topics discussed during the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Kota Kinabalu’s courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister II cum State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
President Snowy Chang led the JCI Kota Kinabalu delegates.

The meeting focused on several community-based programmes aligned with youth development and social well-being.
Key discussion areas included environmental responsibility through recycling programmes conducted with local authorities, as well as initiatives addressing bullying prevention, mental health awareness, and youth engagement.
Both parties also discussed the importance of financial literacy among young adults, particularly in addressing the rise of financial scams.
The organisation pointed out equipping youth with practical knowledge to manage personal finances and protect themselves from fraud.
Established in Sabah in 1962, JCI Kota Kinabalu is part of the global Junior Chamber International network focused on leadership development and community service.
During the meeting, Chang presented the organisation’s mission and current programmes operating in the State.
JCI Kota Kinabalu invited Masidi to serve as the Guest of Honour at the chapter’s 64th Installation and Awards Banquet on Jan 23. The organisation also announced plans to confer JCI Senatorship upon him in recognition of his contributions to Sabah and support for youth development.
“We appreciate the opportunity to engage with the Ministry of Finance Sabah,” said Chang, adding that JCI Kota Kinabalu is ready to collaborate with government agencies and partners to create impact for Sabahans.
