TONGOD: Kuamut Assemblyman Datuk Masiung Banah (

He said political competition was inevitable during elections but cooperation was essential after a government was formed, noting that no single party could govern alone and that collaboration was already practised at the Federal level and in Sabah.

Commenting on the Kinabatangan and Lamag by-elections following the loss of their leader Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, Masiung said politics is dynamic and urged all sides to move forward without allowing emotions to hinder sound decision-making.
Speaking to reporters after the Sentuhan Kasih Desa @ Kuamut programme at the Tongod square on Thursday, he said elections should produce representatives and governments capable of solving people’s problems rather than prolonging disputes and rivalries.
He said the by-elections would not change the existing government but offered voters a chance to choose representatives aligned with the ruling administration to ensure smoother development delivery, adding that Kuamut needed unity to tackle poverty, infrastructure gaps and limited economic resources.
