Lorry driver killed in Tenom crash

Tenom: A 38-year-old was killed after the 10-tonne lorry he was driving, loaded with oil palm seedlings, skidded off the road at Pammos View, Kampung Pamilan, Batu 15.5, Jalan Tenom-Keningau, Tuesday.

The victim who was trapped under the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tenom Fire and Rescue Station Chief Mudi Pengiran said a team was deployed to the scene following a 2.42pm distress call. 

The team arrived at the scene some 26km away at 3.06pm.

According to witness accounts, the victim had attempted to jump from the lorry before it skidded off the road. He became trapped under the right rear tyre of the vehicle.

The team extracted the body with assistance from a heavy excavator and the victim was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.
