KINABATANGAN: The Kinabatangan parliamentary constituency urgently needs more health facilities.
Independent candidate for Kinabatangan, Goldam H Salangah, said that currently Kinabatangan only has one hospital and six health clinics.

He noted that this number is insufficient for the constituency’s population, which now stands at 200,000 people.
“Based on local statistical data for 2024 released by the Department of Statistics Malaysia on 1 December 2025, Kinabatangan only has six health clinics and one hospital.
“In comparison, the Kudat parliamentary constituency has a population of 93,100 but has one hospital and 15 clinics,” he said in a media statement on Friday.
Goldam added that access to healthcare is one of the key issues raised by voters in the constituency, such as residents of Kampung Bilit.
“They informed me that they have to travel to Pekan Sukau or Bukit Garam even just to get medicine,” he said.
He emphasized that improving healthcare facilities is one of the main issues he will fight for if elected as Kinabatangan’s Member of Parliament.
