KOTA KINABALU: The implementation of the Mobile Court for Children is a key step towards improving access to justice for vulnerable groups, particularly children, said Chief Justice of Sabah and Sarawak Datuk Azizah Nawawi (

She said existing mobile courts have been converted into Virtual Mention Rooms and Virtual Non-Jury facilities, but the Virtual Non-Examining Justice (VNEJ) component has yet to be introduced.

Azizah noted that without the VNEJ element, mobile court facilities for children remain incomplete, especially in Sabah and Sarawak.
She said it was hoped both states would be fully equipped with comprehensive mobile court facilities to ensure the initiative is implemented in full, when speaking at the Opening of the Legal Year at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Friday.
Azizah said the Mobile Court for Children is an important reform designed to bring justice closer to children involved in legal proceedings by providing a more familiar and less intimidating setting that helps reduce psychological distress.
