SOOK: Residents in Trusmadi who waited 10 years for a school to be built there, are delighted that SMK Trusmadi officially began operations on Monday (Jan 12).
A resident from Kg Nandagan, Agang Sagintir, said the school was long awaited by people in the surrounding areas.

He said residents had been requesting it for decades because villages located around the Trus Madi area are situated far from existing secondary schools in Sook, such as SMK Sook and SMK Tulid.
“Before SMK Trusmadi was established, children in this area faced difficulties continuing their education at the secondary level due to the long distance and limited transportation,” he said.
He added not all students from primary schools in the area who continued their studies at SMK Sook and SMK Tulid were able to secure places in the hostels.
“Today, however, we are grateful for the concern shown by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) with the establishment of this secondary school, which officially began operating at the start of 2026,” he explained.
A resident, Stmson @ Langagai Rusikan, described SMK Trusmadi, as a gift to local residents and indigenous people of the area.
Planning for the construction of the secondary school began under the Tenth Malaysia Plan (10th MP).
However, its implementation was delayed due to certain factors, including challenging terrain.

Today, the secondary school building, valued at more than RM51 million, has been fully completed and benefits 832 students from six nearby primary schools, namely Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sinua, SK Sinaron Tengah, SK Mansiat, SK Nandagan, SK Lanas and SK Batu Lunguyan.
