Man held for recording videos of wife, step-daughters
“The suspect’s smartphone was found to still be actively recording video when it was discovered, and there were 10 recordings of his wife and stepchildren in compromising situations while using the bathroom,” ACP Jasmin said. 
TAWAU: A woman was shocked to discover that her new husband had been secretly recording and storing videos of her and her two daughters when they used the bathroom.

Further inspection of the suspect’s smartphone revealed videos of her two daughters, also believed recorded without their knowledge, at Kg Tanjung Batu Laut, on Sunday.

“The victim reported the incident involving herself and her two children to the police at 6.27pm, which led to the arrest of the suspect,” District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said, Tuesday.

The 39-year-old local labourer is alleged to have been spying on his wife and two stepdaughters while they were in the bathroom.

The act was uncovered after one of the suspect’s stepdaughters, aged 12, discovered a smartphone hidden around the bathroom area before handing it over to the complainant.

“The suspect’s smartphone was found to still be actively recording video when it was discovered, and there were 10 recordings of his wife and stepchildren in compromising situations while using the bathroom,” he said.

Police suspect all the video recordings found on the smartphone were made by the man without the knowledge of the three victims.

He added that the investigation has been opened under Section 377D of the Penal Code for committing indecent acts and Section 509 of the same code for insulting the modesty of others.

At the same time, police reminded the public that firm action will be taken against perpetrators identified as being involved in immoral acts and violations of the dignity or privacy of others.
