KOTA KINABALU: A total of 446 postal ballots were issued on Monday for the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections, with the process conducted by appointed election officers in the presence of candidates’ postal voting agents, according to a statement by Election Commission (EC) secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus.
For the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election, the ballots comprised 203 Category 1A postal votes involving election staff, police and media personnel, and 48 Category 1C votes for agencies and organisations.

In the Lamag state by-election, 155 Category 1A postal votes and 40 Category 1C votes were issued under the same categories.
Khairul Shahril reminded postal voters to mark their ballots correctly, complete the Declaration of Identity form, and return the documents to the relevant returning officer by 5pm on polling day on January 24.
Voters were also cautioned to safeguard ballot secrecy by refraining from photographing postal ballots or sharing them on social media, he said.
