KINABATANGAN: The Election Commission (EC) expects about 65 per cent voter turnout at the Kinabatangan by-election on Jan 24, reflecting participation levels seen during last November’s Sabah state polls.
Its chairman, Datuk Seri Ramlan Datuk Harun, said the projection was based on recent voting patterns and urged electors to come out and fulfil their civic duty for both the parliamentary Kinabatangan seat and the Lamag state constituency.

He said this after observing the nomination process at Dewan Sri Lamag on Saturday, noting that all five candidates successfully submitted their papers without any being rejected.
Ramlan said the nomination went smoothly, with supporters cooperating well throughout the process, creating a calm and orderly atmosphere.
He added that the Commission stands ready to introduce further improvements if necessary as the by-election progresses in Kinabatangan and Lamag.
