Kota Kinabalu: Warisan’s Kapayan Assemblyman Chin Tek Ming reaffirmed his commitment to resolving the strata title issue affecting Ganang Villa in Kapayan.
Last Saturday, he met with residents’ representative Awang Hidup Hj Abas and several property owners to discuss the matter, which has impacted the residential development since 2010.
The issue involves 230 residential units, where owners have been unable to ascertain the status of their strata titles despite making inquiries with multiple parties over the past 13 years.
Chin noted that the delay has severely affected residents’ property rights, creating difficulties in areas such as ownership security, property transfers, obtaining financing, and handling inheritance matters.
“Strata titles are a fundamental legal document that safeguards homeowners’ rights. Any prolonged delay in their issuance should be treated seriously,” he emphasised.
As the elected representative, Chin stressed that it is his responsibility to escalate the issue to relevant authorities, identify the root causes of the hold-up, and provide assistance to residents in pushing for a timely resolution.
“The residents’ legitimate concerns deserve due attention. My office will continue to engage closely with the residents’ pro-tem committee and maintain regular liaison with government agencies involved to ensure this matter is actively followed up and resolved as soon as possible,” he added.
He further stated that addressing such issues is key to promoting stability and proper governance within the Kapayan constituency, ensuring that all residents can enjoy the full benefits and protections of their property ownership.
