KOTA KINABALU: Heavy rain that began at about 4pm on Saturday triggered flooding in parts of Kolombong and Inanam, leaving roads submerged and daily routines disrupted.
Water levels rose to above knee height in several low-lying areas, forcing vehicles to slow to a crawl and residents to wade through floodwaters to reach safer ground.

Several families, including those with children, elderly members and persons with disabilities, were evacuated to temporary shelters as conditions worsened into the evening.
Local authorities said essential supplies were being distributed while rescue teams remained on standby to assist affected residents and monitor the situation.
Earlier, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a thunderstorm warning for parts of Sabah until 7pm, cautioning of heavy rain exceeding 20mm per hour, strong winds and the risk of further flooding, and advising the public to remain vigilant and avoid flooded routes.
