Kota Kinabalu: Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) urged the Federal Government to support the new Sabah Government in all aspects.
Its President Tan Sri TC Goh said the Federal Government should provide comprehensive support across development, policy implementation and resource allocation.
He welcomed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent pledge to intensify and accelerate Sabah’s development agenda.
Also Permanent Honorary President of the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Hua Zong) cum President of the Sabah and Labuan Hokkien Association, Goh expressed optimism over the Prime Minister’s assurance of driving inclusive economic growth through strategic investments, enhanced infrastructure and quality job creation – aligning with Sabah’s potential as the “Land Below the Wind”.
In his Facebook post, the Prime Minister shared a summary graphic outlining Sabah’s path to greater progress in 2025, with key highlights including the Madani Government’s commitment to fulfilling the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and improving infrastructure management.
Goh emphasised that the long-awaited implementation of Sabah’s 40 per cent net tax revenue entitlement must be treated as a top priority.
“The Prime Minister has said Sabah is continuing its journey towards prosperity under Madani leadership, with policies anchored on MA63 promises.
As Sabahans, we certainly hope the Federal Government will expedite the delivery of these commitments – especially the 40 per cent net revenue return, which must be acted on without delay,” he said in a statement.
He noted that the outcome of the recently concluded Sabah election clearly reflected the people’s desire for a state government with strong local consciousness and greater autonomy.
“The people also hope the Federal Government will show greater concern than before and strengthen cooperation with the State, working in a mutually beneficial political partnership to maximise development across all sectors and address existing imbalances,” he added.
He stressed that such plans require concrete, practical support from the Federal to be implemented swiftly.
“Sabah has vast potential in key sectors like energy, tourism, modern agriculture and the blue economy. With more proactive federal cooperation, we can also further strengthen the state’s security and sovereignty,” Goh said.
He also called for increased development allocations to improve infrastructure standards and assistance in attracting more foreign direct investment to the State.
“Time is of the essence – the new State Government has five years ahead, but the Federal Government has less than two. We hope it will quicken its pace, backed by stronger political will and administrative decisiveness, to fulfil all its commitments to Sabah as soon as possible.”
