Kota Kinabalu: Tourism industry players in Sabah and Labuan have been encouraged to apply for the Gamelan (Galakan Melancong Malaysia) and GSSP (Geran Sepadan Sektor Pelancongan), which opened on Dec 16.
Tourism Malaysia Sabah Director Haryanty Abu Bakar said the Federal Government initiatives are important in strengthening joint promotions and developing more competitive tourism products.
“There are already five applications from Sabah since the grants opened three days ago. I encourage industry players to fully utilise this support to stay active and prepared for 2026,” she said during the Tourism Malaysia Appreciation Night 2025 for industry partners, stakeholders and the media in Sabah and Labuan at a hotel.
Looking ahead, she said the core focus of Tourism Malaysia’s 2026 promotional activities will be on creating demand through stronger branding and marketing, as well as increasing traffic through strategic partnerships.
