Kota Kinabalu: A 32-year-old woman was sentenced to seven months’ jail and fined RM3,000, or one month’s jail in default, by the Magistrate’s Court here for stealing clothing items from a department store, two years ago.
Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali, in delivering her decision, found Jascinta Shima, a housewife, guilty as charged after a full trial.

Jascinta was convicted of stealing a shirt worth RM89, seven pieces of women’s underwear worth RM79.90, all belonging to the department store at 6pm on Oct 30, 2023, at CT Department Store in City Mall, Jalan Lintas.
The charge under Section 380 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 10 years and may also include a fine, on conviction.
The court ordered Jascinta to serve the sentence from the date of the conviction.
