Kota Kinabalu: Bingkor Assemblyman Datuk Mohd Ishak Datuk Ayub called for cross-party cooperation, framing unity as the only way to unlock meaningful development and improve livelihoods in his rural constituency.
Speaking to local media during the Sabah State Legislative Assembly sitting Monday – held alongside the tabling of the Sabah Budget 2026 – Ishak emphasised that democratic debates during elections should not become barriers to post-poll collaboration.
“Development does not recognise political colours – only the sincerity of those who serve,” he said, noting that Bingkor’s progress depends on collective action from the community, local leaders, and all stakeholders to ensure projects are implemented effectively and deliver tangible benefits to residents.
The Assistant Minister of Finance also welcomed the RM6.402 billion state budget – which projects a RM28 million surplus against RM6.430 billion in revenue – describing it as a forward-looking, people-centric plan that prioritizes rural communities.
“This budget is more than just numbers on a page – it’s a commitment to ensuring that infrastructure, service delivery, and quality of life improve for every segment of society, including those living in remote areas like Bingkor,” he said.
Ishak expressed hope that budget allocations would be fully channelled into key areas such as road upgrades, clean water supply, and healthcare facilities – critical needs for his constituency, which spans vast rural landscapes in Keningau.
He stressed that political stability and sustained cooperation are essential for long-term, sustainable growth.
“I am confident that with unity and the support of all parties, Bingkor can evolve into a progressive, well-managed area that is inclusive and prosperous for both present and future generations,” he added.
