Kota Kinabalu: The Government is urged to appoint an “independent auditor” to accurately determine the total amount of Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue claim.
Putatan Umno Chief Jeffery Nor Mohamed said the proposal, previously suggested by the late Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, was rational, practical and fair to all parties involved.

“The technical aspects regarding the method of ‘calculation’ must be straightforward and clear, not a calculation that ultimately becomes rhetoric,” he said.
Jeffery said the appointment of the independent auditor should receive the consent of both the Federal and State Governments, with all findings serving as the basis for subsequent steps to realise the 40 per cent claim.
He stressed that the people of Sabah must be given a simple and clear explanation of the decisions made.
“The resolution based on the findings from the ‘independent auditor’ must be the main pillar in resolving this issue,” he said.
Jeffery added that a permanent framework or a “new agreement” should be established based on the auditor’s findings to create a solid platform for meaningful solutions that meet the aspirations of the people of Sabah.
On Oct 17, the High Court here ruled that the Federal Government is obliged to review and reimburse the 40 per cent claim from net revenue derived from Sabah in accordance with Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution.
