Kota Kinabalu: Kunak Assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Anil Sandhu has been appointed Assistant Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy Minister.
He took his oath before Head of State Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu, Monday. It was witnessed by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
The ceremony also saw Anil signing the appointment documents before the High Court Judge of Sabah Celestina Stuel Galid and concluded with a prayer led by Sabah Mufti Datuk Bungsu @ Aziz Jaafar.
Anil, who won the Kunak seat in the 17th State Election on the Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket, is the second BN representative to join the State administration after Datuk Jafry Ariffin was appointed as Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister.
He had previously served as President of the Sabah Hockey Association and Vice President of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (KHM), adding to his expertise in sports development in the State.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan and State Secretary Datuk Seri Sr Safar Untong.
