TELUPID: Telupid is evolving beyond a transit town and has strong potential to become a key socioeconomic hub in Sabah’s interior, said Assistant Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Sabah and Telupid assemblyman Datuk Jonnybone J. Kurum.
He said development efforts must be more targeted and focused on the real needs of the people to address existing challenges in the district.

Jonnybone was speaking at the opening of the Sabah Targeted Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Carnival 2025, themed “Leaving No One Behind”, held at Tamu Desa Pekan Telupid.
The carnival, jointly organised by the National SDG Centre and SEDIA, featured service exhibitions, health and community sharing sessions, and the distribution of 200 food baskets to B40 recipients.
He said the programme reflects the government’s commitment to engage directly with communities and deliver practical, coordinated solutions.
Jonnybone also urged authorities to prioritise a 24-hour water supply in Telupid, citing ongoing difficulties faced by residents and food traders.
Meanwhile, SEDIA chief executive officer Datuk Seri Hashim Paijan said Telupid was selected to identify current issues through direct engagement between residents and government agencies.
