KOTA KINABALU: Senator Datuk Bobbey Suan urged that all federal allocations to Sabah be channelled directly into the Sabah Trust Fund to ensure unspent development funds remain in the state and projects can proceed without bureaucratic delays.
He stressed that full implementation of Sabah’s MA63 rights, particularly the long-overdue 40 percent net revenue entitlement, must no longer be delayed.
"The 2025 High Court ruling in favour of Sabah Law Society should guide a transparent, fixed formula and regular payments that are not influenced by political changes," he stressed.
Bobbey said Sabah needs consistent financial strength to address long-standing issues such as water supply, unreliable electricity and rural infrastructure gaps. He pointed to major blackouts in 2025 as clear evidence of the state’s fragile energy network.
He welcomed the Southern Link project to increase East Coast power stability but criticised slow federal project approvals that limit spending of allocated funds each year.
Bobbey also highlighted Sabah’s low food self-sufficiency and called for stronger agricultural investment, alongside continued support for the state’s growing community-based tourism sector.
