LAHAD DATU: Thirty-three members of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) concluded the Medical First Responder (MFR) joint training exercise, which is expected to further strengthen readiness in the ESS Zone.
The five days exercise was a bilateral effort between Esscom and the United States’ Special Operation Forces Liaison Element (SOFLE) and Civil Military Support Element (CSME) based in the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
The exercise which carried out at Marine Police Force Operation Base placed strong emphasis on emergency risk management, particularly in natural disaster scenarios, combining theoretical modules with practical field exercises.
Esscom Commander, DCP Datuk Victor Sanjos said, the exercise was a vital step in ensuring our front liners remain at a high level of preparedness and to further strengthening practical knowledge gained from real-world scenarios.
He said the exercise also aims to ensure our personnel are able to react swiftly and effectively to any emergencies, including disaster.
“This exercise also enhance coordination between security, enforcement, medical and volunteer agencies in ESS Zone, enabling more structured and effective responses during emergencies,” he said.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Brig. Gen Mohamad Ismail Kamarudin, representing Victor together with US Embassy Defense Advisor, Captain Pasit Somboonpakron of the US Navy.
The exercise which begin on December 1st involved the Marine Police Force, Battalion 17 of the General Operation Force, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defense Force, Lahad Datu Hospital and St. John Ambulans Malaysia.
