TAWAU: A 28-year-old man wanted by police for criminal intimidation has been arrested at a hotel car park, here, on Saturday, ending a manhunt that began last year.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the local labourer was detained around noon in connection with a criminal threat case under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
The suspect allegedly threatened a 40-year-old local man in Kampung Tanjung Batu Tengah in January last year, blaming him for causing the suspect’s friend to be imprisoned.
Following the victim’s report, officers tracked down and apprehended the suspect. Police checks revealed he has previous convictions for similar threatening offences.
Jasmin said firm action will be taken against anyone disrupting public peace through criminal intimidation.
Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to enable swift police response.
