KOTA KINABALU: Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin inspected several key tourist jetties in Kota Kinabalu on Sunday to assess their condition and safety.
The visit covered Jesselton Point, the Sabah Parks Jetty and the South Jetty owned by Suria Capital, which is currently being built at an estimated cost of RM20 million.
Jafry said some facilities required urgent maintenance to ensure a safer and more comfortable experience for visitors arriving in Sabah.
He also inspected staff quarters on Pulau Sulug, which he described as dilapidated and in need of immediate attention to safeguard the well-being of officers stationed there.
Jafry said the matter would be addressed with his ministry as part of wider efforts to improve tourism infrastructure and maintain Sabah’s standing as a leading destination.
