KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said he is increasingly optimistic that Sabah’s long-awaited 40 per cent special grant is nearing resolution, crediting the State’s renewed cooperation with the Federal Government.
He said the strengthened relationship was crucial in maintaining development momentum and ensuring shared progress between both administrations.
Hajiji said this improved rapport gave him confidence that Putrajaya would soon fulfil its revenue obligation to Sabah, which he described as vital for the people’s well-being.
He reminded the public that while Sabah continues to assert its rights, the State also carries responsibilities tied to sovereignty, security, unity, and the nation’s collective future.
Speaking at the Sentuhan Madani programme officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at SICC on Saturday, Hajiji said the State Government remained committed to elevating Sabah over the next five years.
He said the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 plan, beginning next year, would guide development including three new industrial parks and expanded welfare programmes for low-income families, senior citizens, and first-time homebuyers.
Hajiji said Sabah would also accelerate infrastructure upgrades, with over RM1.2 billion allocated for water supply improvements and renewed efforts to stabilise electricity, supported by the Federal allocation for the Sabah Southern Link Project.
