BEAUFORT: The biography of PBS Vice President and Lumadan incumbent, Datuk Ruslan Muharam, titled “Oku (Aku) Haji Ruslan: Dari Suasa Ke Menara Kinabalu”, was officially launched at a ceremony held at Dream Hotel here recently.
The launch was officiated by Ruslan himself, and attended by grassroots leaders as well as the book’s author, Iskandar Dzulkifli.
Iskandar shared that the writing process took considerable time to ensure factual accuracy and authenticity, particularly in portraying the life journey of the notable Bisaya community figure.
Spanning over 300 pages, the biography traces Ruslan’s early years with his late father, Haji Muharam, his mother and family, before detailing his involvement in business and the cooperative movement, which earned him recognition as a Tokoh Koperasi.
The book also covers his early political struggles and eventual rise as the Lumadan assemblyman.
“This biography documents Datuk Ruslan’s life and his efforts in business, cooperatives and politics until he became the Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister.
“It also reveals his close ties with prominent Sabah leaders such as the late Janang Gayuh and Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin, who served as his political mentor.
“To me, this book serves as inspiration, reminding us that failure often leads to success, as Datuk Ruslan himself often says,” Iskandar said.
In his speech, Ruslan expressed appreciation to the author and all parties involved in producing the first print of 500 copies.
He said he hopes the book will inspire the younger generation with lessons of perseverance, patience and integrity in life.
Earlier, a signing session for “Oku (Aku) Haji Ruslan” involving both Ruslan and the author was held during the event.
