KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia will allow female cabin crew to wear the hijab while on duty under an updated uniform policy set to roll out during Ramadan in the first quarter of 2026.
The airline said the move reflects its people-first culture and ongoing efforts to ensure Allstars feel confident and comfortable representing the brand.

AirAsia Aviation Group CEO Bo Lingam said the update marks the airline’s growth into a global carrier with a diverse workforce that mirrors the communities it serves.
He said the hijab has long been used by crew on routes such as Jeddah due to local requirements, and extending this option ensures consistency while maintaining AirAsia’s professional identity.
Cabin Crew Group Head Suhaila Hassan said the policy acknowledges the diverse backgrounds of the airline’s workforce and will be refined with staff feedback before its planned rollout.
Capital A CEO Tony Fernandes said management acted after cabin crew raised the matter, adding that respecting different views has long guided the airline’s success.
