KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional (BN) will only settle on its Chief Minister candidate after securing a substantial number of seats in the upcoming 17th Sabah Election, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as he outlined the coalition’s election priorities on Saturday.
Zahid, also BN Chairman, expressed confidence that BN’s Sabah-crafted manifesto could tackle long-standing issues of water supply, electricity and roads, which he said must be resolved before investors regain confidence in the state.

He highlighted unemployment as one of Sabah’s toughest barriers to progress and said the coalition’s focus on high-value Tvet programmes was aimed at giving young Sabahans marketable skills that lead to stable jobs.
Zahid also reaffirmed BN’s commitment to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), rejecting recent remarks that described Sabah’s rights as a burden and insisting that implementation must continue through Federal-State coordination.
Zahid stressed that party discipline and BN-PH seat arrangements would guide the coalition’s decisions as it contests 45 of the 73 seats.
