LAHAD DATU: Police have received 17 reports involving various offences and misconduct during the state election campaign which began last Saturday.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said about 1,140 permits for talks and campaigns were approved during the last four days.

Jauteh said it is preferable for the permit to be applied on a daily basis due to time or venue change, which would delay police to control or carry out monitoring at the campaign sites.
“We received 17 reports in the last few days, mostly involving minor issues,” he told a press conference at the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters, Wednesday.
Jauteh thanked all political parties as well as supporters for their professionalism and cooperation during campaigning.
Earlier, Jauteh visited Tambisan, Desa Kencana, Cenderawasih and Tungku police stations to ensure his officers are ready to face daily tasks and unexpected situations to ensure security, especially in Lahad Datu.
During the visit, he reminded his officers to uphold professionalism, neutrality and integrity throughout the campaign period, emphasising that police members must serve all parties fairly.
“We would not take part in political activities, but focus solely on maintaining public safety and smooth election processes,” he added.
