KUALA LUMPUR: The world’s first 100 per cent halal cruise ship will set sail from Malaysia this November, marking a new chapter in the country’s ambition to lead the global Muslim-friendly tourism market, Metro UK and Travel Weekly Asia reported.

The M/V Piano Land, jointly operated by Astro Ocean Cruise and Hwajing Travel & Tours, will make its maiden voyage from Port Klang on Nov 29 with itineraries connecting Penang, Langkawi, and the Straits of Malacca.

Able to carry 1,760 passengers across 880 cabins and 10 decks, the ship promises a luxury experience aligned with halal principles — from alcohol-free beverages and prayer-friendly facilities to spa treatments and family activities.

All meals onboard, including the ship’s signature halal Hong Kong-style roasted duck, are prepared according to strict halal standards, complemented by a dedicated afternoon tea service that’s entirely halal too.

Kota Kinabalu: KOTA KINABALU: Fiesta Mega Raya (FMR) 2026 is set to be the largest and most prestigious Hari Raya celebration in Sabah, taking place from March 7 to 18, at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here.
Prayer rooms, accurate prayer time guidance, and Qibla indicators in each cabin ensure Muslim travellers can maintain their faith while exploring the open sea.

Hwajing Travel & Tours managing director Kenny Cheong said the Piano Land represents Malaysia’s growing strength in Muslim-friendly hospitality and its readiness to welcome travellers from all backgrounds with warmth and authenticity.

Meanwhile, Astro Ocean Cruise vice president Jian-feng Tong described the collaboration as a celebration of Malaysia’s diversity and a bold step in redefining the future of halal cruising.

Beyond serving as a leisure escape, the initiative also reinforces Malaysia’s aspiration to become a regional cruise hub, adding a new dimension to its tourism landscape.

Families can look forward to kids’ clubs, cultural shows, and nightly entertainment designed for all ages, while wellness seekers will find spa and mindfulness programmes onboard.

The launch coincides with the first-ever Matta Muslim Friendly Travel Fair in Kuala Lumpur recently, where the Piano Land took centre stage — a fitting preview of Malaysia’s seaborne hospitality that promises to sail with both comfort and conscience.
