PAPAR: The 100-acre Benoni New Township masterplan developed by the WSG Group under Managing Director Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen has reached 80 per cent completion.
She said the remaining 20 per cent, which are designated for a college, sports arena, petrol station and a shopping mall, will be built in stages over the next five years, including the Parklane Residences Lifestyle Condominium, which will take three to four years to build.
The shopping mall, which will be at least three storeys, will include a medical centre, hotel, departmental store, supermarket, bowling alley and children’s playground.
Each floor is about 150,000 square feet (sqft), including 10,000 sqft designated for the mall and the remaining for medical centre and hotel.
Susan said it has been a dream to build a shopping mall in Benoni, as she has never attempted this before in her career that has spanned over four decades.
“I have developed a lot of properties, but never a shopping mall. So my aim is to create a successful shopping mall in my lifetime,” she quipped after welcoming delegates from West Malaysia and Sarawak attending the 77th anniversary and Mid-Autumn Festival celebration of Sze Yi Association West Coast, Sabah here.
Susan acquired the 100 acres in Benoni, Papar back in 2011. After two years of meticulous planning, her company launched its first phase of the Benoni New Township with Benoni Gardens Apartment and Benoni Commercial Centre.
She later developed Parklane City shoplots, Parklane Villa terrace houses, cinema, banquet hall, fast food drive-thru outlets and Parklane Residences Lifestyle Condominium. Today, the award-winning Benoni New Township is a prosperous commercial, entertainment and residential hub that has transformed the landscape of Papar.
As for Benoni, Papar, Susan said the 100-acre of land allowed her to design a new township.
She started off with shoplots, condominium and terrace houses to grow the population in Benoni, and when that was achieved, more amenities are added such as cinema, fast-food drive thru, sports arena and shopping mall.
Susan said many doubted her decision to develop in Kinarut and Benoni.
“However, their perception changed, and they have confidence in me now after witnessing the success of our projects.”
She said Parklane City is a viable investment and is poised to appreciate in value given China-based SBH Kibing New Solar Energy (M) Sdn Bhd’s plan to build a RM7.2 billion solar glass manufacturing plant and the proposed new airport in Kimanis, and Club Med development in Kuala Penyu.
“Parklane City is bound to be a feasible investment after the development is completed in five years.”
Some 100 delegates visited the Benoni Show Gallery, including Foong Tak Chu, president of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur Hock San Association, who have purchased a Parklane Villa terrace house and booked another unit of Parklane Residences Lifestyle Condominium.
Foong, who used to work at an architectural firm before becoming building contractor, attributed the political stability and racial harmony as his reasons to invest in East Malaysia.
“As a person who had worked at an architectural firm and a building contractor, I am confident that it is only a matter of time for a new township to flourish.” Also present was WSG Group director Melissa Wong.
