Seven golds contested in table tennis

TAWAU: A total of seven gold medals are being contested in the table tennis event at the 11th Sabah Games (Saga) 2025 in Tawau.

The Saga 2025 Table Tennis Delegate Head Abdul Mulok Linggin said the event features participation from 14 districts competing for the medals.

“This year’s edition will see competitions in the Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Men’s Team, Women’s Team and the main highlight – Mixed Doubles – taking place from Oct 13 to 15,” he told the media at the table tennis venue in SJK (C) Sin Hwa here Monday.

Mulok said the participation this year has been highly encouraging, with all 14 districts taking part in every category contested.

He also expressed appreciation to all parties involved for their commitment in ensuring the success of this prestigious event, particularly KBSS, the Sabah Sports Council (MSN Sabah), the media, team managers, committee members and officials appointed by the National Sports Council.

“The table tennis event opened its matches today with the team category, which has been divided into four main groups.

“Group A features Sandakan, Ranau and Tenom, while Kota Kinabalu, Tawau and Kunak are placed in Group B.

“Group C consists of Kudat, Keningau, Kota Marudu and Lahad Datu, while Papar, Beaufort, Pitas and Penampang compete in Group D,” said Mulok.
