SIPITANG: Floods inundated houses in low-lying areas of Kg Brunei on Friday as a result of the rain that had been pouring since Thursday, according to Village Head Md Ali Ismail.
He said that a nearby river had overflowed, flooding buildings in low-lying areas, and that an old mosque had also been flooded.
He urged residents to save important documents before the situation worsened.
Another resident, who requested anonymity, said floods are common in the village and that the government should deepen the nearby river.
“If the government can do this, maybe the floods won’t be as bad,” he added, noting that people are also concerned about crocodiles in the river.
Residents should be cautious of their surroundings and not let their children play in the floodwaters, he advised.
