KENINGAU: Police have arrested two local men following a brawl involving a convenience store employee here on Saturday.
District police chief Supt Yampil Garai said the arrests were made following a police report lodged by the 22-year-old victim at Keningau Police Station shortly after midnight on Sunday.
The case is being investigated under Sections 324 and 160 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and affray, with investigations indicating the incident occurred between 10.12pm and 10.30pm while the victim was on duty outside the store as it was preparing to close.
Preliminary investigations found that a man believed to be intoxicated allegedly kicked and punched the store’s shutter door after coming down from an upper-floor premises, and a confrontation later escalated into a fight involving several individuals, during which the victim reportedly sustained injuries to his head, face and body.
Police subsequently detained two suspects, aged 29 and 18, on Sunday evening, while investigations are continuing to trace another individual believed to be linked to the incident.
