Kota Kinabalu: Warisan Vice President Datuk Junz Wong on Saturday called on Democratic Action Party (DAP) leaders to publicly state their position on the controversial Selangor planning guideline requiring the separation of halal and non-halal organic waste at shopping malls and commercial developments.
He said the issue was not merely about waste management, but about transparency, accountability and whether political parties were willing to take responsibility for policies introduced by governments in which they play a major role.
He noted that concerns over the guideline were recently raised by PKR Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung, who questioned the rationale, definitions, implementation mechanisms and cost implications of requiring shopping malls to separately manage halal and non-halal organic waste streams.
“Lee is asking legitimate questions which deserve clear answers. What Malaysians also want to know is where the DAP’s stands on this issue,” he said in a statement.
