Kota Kinabalu: Yoga offers a practical and accessible approach to supporting healthy ageing while fostering stronger and more united communities, said Nominated Assemblyman Datuk Roger Chin.
He said the ancient practice remains relevant in addressing modern-day challenges such as stress, anxiety and lifestyle-related illnesses, in line with this year's International Day of Yoga theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”.
Roger said the focus should not only be on extending life expectancy but also on ensuring people enjoy healthier, more meaningful and independent lives as they grow older.
Speaking at the curtain-raiser event for the International Day of Yoga 2026 celebration here recently, he said healthy ageing should be viewed as a community, family and human responsibility that requires lifelong attention to physical, mental and emotional well-being.
The event, organised by the Sabah India Association and its partners, drew about 100 participants and featured yoga and meditation demonstrations, while Roger also highlighted yoga’s role in promoting wellness, unity and cultural understanding across communities.
