Filipino detained after seizure of pangolins, scales and suspected elephant tusk
The live pangolins and pangolin scales seized during the joint enforcement operation.
KINABATANGAN: Ten live pangolins, about nine kilogrammes of pangolin scales and an item suspected to be an elephant tusk were seized during an integrated operation by the Sabah Wildlife Department and the General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion 15 in Kampung Paris 3 on Friday.

Sabah Wildlife director Mohd Soffian Abu Bakar said the operation, conducted at about 8.30pm at the entrance to Tye Yang Plantation, led to the detention of a 27-year-old Filipino to assist investigations.

He said inspections on the suspect uncovered 10 live pangolins kept in a green net, as well as two plastic packages containing pangolin scales weighing an estimated nine kilogrammes.

Also seized was an item suspected to be an elephant tusk, with all wildlife and wildlife parts confiscated for further investigation, he said in a statement on Saturday.
