Minister calls for more intellectual discourse in Sabah
TAWAU: Sabah needs more discussion forums and intellectual discourse programmes to help foster a progressive Sabahan identity that can compete globally while preserving religious values and local cultural heritage, said Youth, Sports and Creative Economy Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan (pic).

He said Sabah also requires open-minded citizens who can navigate globalisation while maintaining harmony among the State's diverse communities.

Nizam said the public, particularly youths, should be open-minded but remain guided by their own principles and avoid being influenced by external narratives that do not benefit national unity and harmony.

He said this after officiating the Tawau Zone Thought Discourse Programme organised by the United Sabah Islamic Association (Usia), which was also attended by its president Datuk Sapawi Ahmad at the Tawau Community Hall on Saturday.

Nizam praised the programme for encouraging critical thinking and informed discussion on current and geopolitical issues, adding that his ministry was prepared to support similar initiatives that align with the development agenda of the Federal and State governments.
