Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has urged cooperatives in Sabah to embrace transformation by diversifying their income sources and exploring new sectors with growth potential.
He said cooperatives could no longer depend solely on traditional business models but must continue to innovate to remain competitive amid changing economic and technological landscapes.

Hajiji said this when officiating the 49th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Sabah Government Employees Cooperative Society Berhad (Kopeks) and launching the Kinabalu Media community newspaper at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here, Thursday.
He said Kopeks had transformed from a credit-based cooperative into one involved in strategic sectors including Ar-Rahnu services, healthcare, dialysis centres, housing projects, import and export activities, and community newspaper publishing.
Hajiji also welcomed Kopeks’ plan to establish a dialysis centre, saying the demand for such services continued to rise, while its involvement in import and export activities could strengthen cross-border trade opportunities.
