Kota Kinabalu: The Madani Government is considering a RM5 million matching grant under Budget 2027 to revive selected statesmen memorials nationwide as part of efforts to strengthen national identity, patriotism and unity.

(pic) said the proposed allocation would be used to revitalise 10 memorials dedicated to national figures while preserving and promoting Malaysia’s historical legacy.

He said the Government also hoped to support the development of a Sabah Statesmen Memorial to recognise the contributions and sacrifices of leaders who shaped the history of the State and the country.
Anwar said this when launching the 2026 National Unity Week Celebration at the Likas Sports Complex here on Saturday, with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang among those present.
He said the Government would also provide grants to Rukun Negara clubs and secretariats nationwide to strengthen understanding and appreciation of the Rukun Negara principles among younger generations.
