SANDAKAN: The announcement of the increase in the Special Interim Grant to Sabah to RM1.5 billion by the Federal Government has been welcomed by Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) Vice President II Abdul Rajak Janit, who described it as a significant milestone in the efforts to restore Sabah’s rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
He said what makes the people of Sabah even prouder is that the announcement is not merely a political promise or a statement on paper, but proof that the Federal Government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Sabah Government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor are tangibly delivering on their commitments.

“This is not just an announcement by the Prime Minister. This is implementation in action. The people of Sabah have listened to various promises regarding State rights for far too long, but today we see action translated through the increase of the interim grant to RM1.5 billion.
“It proves that Sabah’s rights are no longer just a talking point, but are being implemented progressively through close cooperation between the Federal and State Governments,” he said in a statement Wednesday.
He said the interim grant is a vital step towards realising the demands for the special grant to Sabah based on Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution, which are closely linked to the spirit and foundation of the formation of Malaysia in 1963.
Abdul Rajak also described the development as news that brings hope and a renewed sense of encouragement to all citizens of Sabah.
“The people of Sabah need to view this RM1.5 billion as a sign that Sabah’s voice and rights are increasingly being given attention. Although the struggle is not yet over, we can now see tangible results.
“The journey towards the full implementation of Sabah’s rights requires time, patience and the cooperation of all parties. What matters most is that we have moved forward and are no longer stuck in the same place as before,” he said.
He believes the additional allocation will help accelerate State development, improve basic infrastructure, strengthen the people’s economy and open up more opportunities for Sabah’s younger generation.
“Sabah is not a state that begs for sympathy. Sabah is only demanding what is rightfully hers. When those rights are fulfilled, all citizens will enjoy the benefits through faster development, better job opportunities and an improved standard of living.
“I believe the people of Sabah want leaders who can deliver results, not just rhetoric. This RM1.5 billion is proof that when there is political will and good cooperation, the results can be enjoyed by the people,” he said.
He also urged all Sabahans to remain united in defending the State’s rights, regardless of political differences, to ensure that the development agenda and the wellbeing of the people remain a priority.
“Sabah is increasingly respected, Sabah’s rights are increasingly recognised and Sabah’s future is looking brighter. This is the spirit we must carry forward together for today’s and future generations,” he added.
