SANDAKAN: The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Sandakan District captured a 2.5-metre-long reticulated python weighing an estimated 10kg, along with 14 eggs, during an operation at a factory area in Batu 8, Jalan Lintas Sibuga, on Tuesday morning.
Sandakan District Civil Defence Officer Captain (PA) Sulaiman Salama said APM received a report from a member of the public about a snake spotted near a pile of zinc sheets.
An APM team was subsequently deployed to the location and successfully located the reptile hiding inside a hole in the ground nearby.
The capture operation was carried out safely without any injuries or untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, APM Sandakan advised the public to remain vigilant and immediately contact the authorities if they encounter wild or venomous animals in residential areas or workplaces.
