LAHAD DATU: A 61-year-old man was reported missing while searching for bird’s nest at Gua Tepadung, Segama, here, on May 26. Ismail Ibrahim from Sandakan is believed to have gone missing after being separated from his two companions.
District Police Chief, ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail in a statement said Police received a report on the incident at 11.35am on May 31.
“Preliminary information found that the victim and his two friends entered the Gua Tepadung to search for bird’s nest. However the victim was reported missing after separated from his two friends in the area.
“The victim was last seen wearing a brown shirt and pants, as well as rubber shoes. He was also reported to have brought ropes for the activity,” he said.
According to Dzulbaharin, Search and Rescue (SAR) operation was activated at 2pm on May 31. The operation was accompanied by various agencies including the Fire and Rescue Department and Civil Defence Force.
Police urged those who have information on the whereabouts of the victim or any information that can assist the operation to contact SM Roniey Lajius at 010-4631071 or any police stations.
