BELURAN: Two individuals suffered serious injuries after the motorcycle they were travelling on was involved in a collision with a four-wheel-drive (4WD) along Jalan Sapi Nangoh-Botition on Wednesday afternoon.
Beluran Acting Police Chief ASP Azhani Amat Khairi said police received information about the incident at 5.54pm.
“Initial investigations found that the pick-up truck was travelling from Kampung Cenderamata towards Pekan Botition.
“As the driver was entering a right junction, a motorcycle from behind is believed to have attempted to overtake before colliding with the right door of the vehicle,” he said.
Azhani said the driver of the four-wheel-drive vehicle, a local man, did not suffer any injuries.
“Meanwhile, a man and a woman, believed to be Philippine nationals and identified as the rider and pillion passenger, suffered serious injuries,” he said.
According to him, the motorcyclist sustained a fractured left leg, while the pillion passenger suffered fractures to the left arm and right leg.
“Both victims were transported to the Duchess of Kent Hospital Sandakan using an ambulance from the Nangoh Health Clinic and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital’s trauma zone,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
