Kota Kinabalu: KOTA KINABALU: All 53 contestants for this year’s State Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan (UNK) crown will undergo a new two-tier judging system.
State-level organising chairman Dr Mary Gambidau said the revised format aims to improve transparency, consistency and the overall evaluation process.
Under the system, preliminary assessments will begin on May 26 involving interviews, presentations and official activities ahead of the finals on May 31 at Hongkod Koisaan KDCA.
Dr Mary said the preliminary stage will determine the top 25 finalists, an increase from the previous 15, with seven later advancing to the final question-and-answer round.
She said judging will continue to use a rubric-based system, with translators provided where necessary, including for Murut and Lundayeh languages.
