Kota Kinabalu: A 27-year-old man died while another was injured after the Myvi they were travelling in skidded and plunged into a monsoon drain at Taman Asli here early Saturday.

The deceased, a Bajau man from Semporna who was unemployed, was pronounced dead following the 5am accident while the 31-year-old survivor was taken to hospital.

The survivor, who does odd jobs on a contract basis, was believed to have been injured when the vehicle veered into the drain after the driver lost control.

Kota Kinabalu police Inspector Broimen and Sergeant Fazly were at the scene to investigate the incident.

Fire and rescue personnel also attended the scene to assist.
