SEMPORNA: A local was detained and 265 litres of petrol were seized in an operation off Pulau Siamil waters, here, on Monday.
The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) said the arrest and seizure were made by the Marine Police Force under Ops Tiris 4.0 and handed over to KPDN Semporna for further investigation and action.

During the operation, the man failed to produce any written permission from the Supply Controller to possess or store the controlled good.
A speedboat, an engine and three storage drums were also seized, worth a total of RM11,655.30.
KPDN Semporna has opened an investigation paper under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and reminded individuals as well as companies to comply with regulations.
Any individual found committing the offence may face fines of up to RM1,000,000 for a first offence and up to RM3,000,000 for subsequent offences, or imprisonment of up to three years, or both.
For companies, the offence carries fines up to RM2,000,000 for a first offence and up to RM5,000,000 for repeat offences.
