James also congratulated all Unduk Ngadau contestants for bravely stepping forward to represent their respective communities, stressing that winning or losing is not the main measure, but rather their effort and courage in upholding culture, which is something truly commendable.
SANDAKAN: The role of younger generation in preserving cultural heritage is vital in every cultural celebration, said Sabah Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister and Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) vice-president Datuk James Ratib.

He said youths are not merely participants or spectators, but the inheritors and continuers of the community’s identity.

“Today’s young people actually play a major role in documenting language, songs, traditional attire, food and customs so that this heritage continues to live on and be recognised by future generations.

“Therefore, use social media and digital platforms wisely, not to spread hatred or division, but to promote culture, knowledge, tourism and the values of unity.

He said that in today’s modern world, the competition should continue to be seen as a platform to empower young women as ambassadors of culture, unity and community values.

According to him, true beauty is not only about physical appearance, but also encompasses personality, knowledge, manners and the ability to convey positive messages to society.

James also congratulated all Unduk Ngadau contestants for bravely stepping forward to represent their respective communities, stressing that winning or losing is not the main measure, but rather their effort and courage in upholding culture, which is something truly commendable.
