Kota Kinabalu: After nine years of showcasing its culture through temporary spaces, the Dusun Labuk community finally has a permanent cultural house of its own at Hongkod Koisaan, Penampang.
The establishment of Valai Dusun Labuk marks a significant milestone for the community from Beluran and Telupid, which has been participating in the annual Kaamatan celebration at the Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) grounds since 2016.
Located within Koisaan Cultural Village (KCV), Valai Dusun Labuk is the first cultural house dedicated to the Dusun Labuk community in Sabah.
Beyond serving as a cultural showcase during Kaamatan, the single-storey building is expected to become a space for preserving and promoting the community’s heritage, language, music, dance and traditional food.
