KUNAK: The installation of solar lights in villages throughout the district has begun in phases, particularly in residential areas, including roads and major junctions that are considered high-risk at night. The initiative aims to improve lighting while enhancing the safety of residents and motorists.
Assistant Minister of Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy, who is also the Kunak State Assemblyman, Anil Sandhu, said the initiative is being implemented according to phases and priorities to help expand lighting access in residential areas and vehicle routes.

“The provision of these solar lighting facilities also serves as an effective alternative without relying entirely on electricity-generated power supplies,” he told the media on Thursday.
He expressed hope that the move would create a safer environment, especially at night, while also improving the quality of life for rural communities through the use of environmentally friendly green energy technology.
Anil said the project is part of the state government’s efforts, in collaboration with the State Assemblyman Liaison Office and the Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM), to provide better basic infrastructure for the safety and well-being of the people.
He also urged local communities to work together in maintaining the public infrastructure provided, including the solar lighting facilities.
