Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Electricity Kaamatan Chess Festival 2026 that kicked off on Saturday has drawn a remarkable total of 550 participants.
The three-day event held in conjunction with the Labour Day celebration that began on Saturday was jointly organised by the Sabah State Chess Association (PCNS) and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).
Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (Sabah Electricity) in a statement expressed its appreciation to the employees who are the backbone of the company’s continued operations, in line with its aspiration to build a productive, resilient and balanced workforce.
The management said the competition serves as a relaxing platform that promotes a balance between career and mental well-being, thus strengthening the relationship between employees and the community in an inclusive manner.
The opening ceremony was officiated by the Ministry of Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy’s chief assistant secretary Joseph Ivor Bachee, representing Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan.
Also present were PCNS president Muammar Julkarnain and EPF Sabah and W.P Labuan Director Haji Mohd Fadli Sarehan.
