Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FA’s women’s team started the season with a resounding victory by thrashing Young Tigress 4-0 in the opening match of this year’s National Women League held at the Penampang Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Sabah FA management has bolstered the squad with impressive signings in their current campaign, including the addition of national captain Steffie Kaur, as well as Haitian-American striker Mai-Lisa Atis, Japanese attacking midfielder Ayuri Terawaki and Korean defensive midfielder Sebin An, who did not feature in the game.

The team proved too strong for the developmental outfit on the night as they dominated the match from the start in a one-sided affair.
The two new foreign imports were also quick to repay the faith as both managed to find the net in their debut outing.
Ayuri scored the opener in the 10th minute with a screamer from 30 metres out, while Mai-Lisa headed in the second from close range in the 41st minute and tapped in the fourth three minutes after the restart.
The other goal was scored by long serving Usliza Usman with a looping volley deep into injury time in the first half.
The team’s next match is away to Kuala Lumpur on June 20.
